ABOUT PHIL
MY KITCHEN.
MY STORY.
Cooking has always been part of my life.
My roots are Mediterranean, but my kitchen has never been limited by geography. I love the dishes I grew up with, the recipes passed down through family, and the traditions behind them—but I’m just as interested in discovering something new and making it my own.
Some recipes are traditional. Some are classics I’ve adapted over the years. Others simply started with an idea, an ingredient, or the question, “What happens if I try this?”
I’m not interested in cooking by rules for the sake of rules. I care about good ingredients, solid technique, generous food and the pleasure of putting something on the table that people genuinely want to eat.
And then there’s Hulk. My constant companion, my shadow, and usually never too far from the kitchen. PhilEmm is personal to me, and it wouldn’t really tell my story without him in it.

THE NAME
THE STORY BEHIND PhilEmm
PhilEmm wasn’t born from a marketing plan.
I simply wanted something shorter than Philip Emmanouelides for Facebook and Instagram, and PhilEmm felt natural.
Later, when I decided to create a website as a permanent home for my recipes, ideas and everything I enjoy about cooking, keeping the name was the obvious next step.
What started as a shortened name gradually became the place where I could bring together a lifetime around food—Mediterranean roots, family favourites, classic recipes, new techniques and my own creations.
PhilEmm is simply my food, my kitchen and my way of sharing it.
MY APPROACH
COOKING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES
Mediterranean roots are where I started, not where I stop.
I respect traditional recipes and the techniques behind them, but cooking should also leave room for curiosity. I like learning new methods, trying unfamiliar ingredients, revisiting classics and occasionally ignoring the rulebook altogether.
That is what PhilEmm is about: traditional dishes, family favourites, classic recipes, personal creations and whatever comes out of the kitchen next.
